Reunion 1999

July 11, 1999

The Horn, Hartzells and Mensch's once again gather for their family reunion.

The day was sunny but there was a cooler steady breeze during most of the meeting and lunch portions of the day.

This year the reunion was held at Bangor Park.

Floyd suggested that we have the meeting prior to the "eating". He quieted everyone down and we all gathered under the pavilion.

After the meeting we all had plenty to eat.

At least 43 members showed up to enjoy the day as a group.

The day seemed to warm up & the breeze almost came to a stop.

Family members played volleyball and quoits and of course cards. Then most hit the pool. Later the usual bingo games were played. Most were still there when I left.

The meeting:
The meeting was called to order by the unofficial president - Floyd Mensch. Neither the President Melvin Hartzell nor the Vice President Raymond Hartzell were in attendance.

The secretaries report was read by Lynn B Coyle. No corrections or errors except for a few to point out that they didn’t receive their invites this year. Reason was unknown.

The treasurers report was read by Suzanne Sartini. $259.91 was the ending balance as of 6-30-98. Suzanne paid $69.91 to Jim A Connie Crane. $50 to Bangor Park to use their facilities. $4.16 in interest. $144.16 is the ending balance as of 07-11-1999. No corrections or errors.

Cranes or Bangor Park for next year. Jim Crane quickly spoke up and said the Cranes but after a lot of discussion it was noted that since this year was basically put together by the Floyd Mensch's that next another branch of the family should organize the reunion. The Horns were nominated and Elton Horn accepted the challenge.

Officers - no changes. Elsie Mensch made the motion and Connie Crane seconded the "no change" motion.

Historians report:
Hartzells - No Hartzells were in attendance.
Horns - Lenora Horn reported that:
Kayla Reed Pysher was born to William <& Krista Pysher. This makes Helen
Pysher a Great Grandmother - Helen added "for the second time".
Mensch -Eva Mensch reported that
Kelsey Leigh Smith was born to Eric <& Melissa Smith on 04-22-1998.
Hannah Sue Mort was born to Tom <& Kristin Mort on 09-10-1998
Kelly Shaffer has as Floyd puts it "one in the oven" and is due 01-02-2000!
Angie Cyphers motioned to adjourn the meeting and Joan Mensch seconded the motion.
My mother, Helen Horn, also advised me later that Helen Mensch died June 7, 1999 and one of Bobby Hardick daughters got married in 1999 also.
