Reunion 1996

Saturday, July 13, 1996

Once again the Horns, Hartzells & Menschs met to enjoy a day of fun, games
and food.

The morning was extremely dreary and rainy but the family enjoyed a lunch under cover. Before lunch was over the kids were outside and wanting to go swimming. As the skies cleared and the sun become to emerge everyone, except for the card players, gathered outside to play volleyball or quoits. Raymond Hartzell actually killed a groundhog grazing up on the hill with a beer bottle. The temperature was warm but not as warm as other years. The card players were able to keep the air conditioning off and the windows open. As the day wound down and the temperatures dropped the family began gathering their articles and saying their good-byes.

The meeting:
Melvin Hartzell called the meeting to order because no one could remember who was president and the secretary regrettably did not have her notes.

Secretary Lynn Coyle apologized for not having 1995's report. The report is on the computer and the computer is in Illinois being repaired.

Treasurer Suzanne Sartini reported a balance of $157.25 as of July 8, 1995. A deposit of $61 and $5.27 interest. $15 to Lynn Coyle for post cards. New balance of $208.52. Corrections - none. Approved.

Approved to accept the same officers. Floyd Mensch motioned with seconds by everyone. No no's.

Floyd also motioned that we give Jim and Connie Crane $50 towards expenses. Elton Horn seconded. Eyes by everyone. Nona's.

It was also approved to pay Jim Crane for the beer and that Jim would again get the beer for next years reunion.

Connie Crane said that if anyone would rather have meet at another location
it was fine. She did not want us to feel obligated to return to their house
each year. The feelings were mutual that we did not feel obligated but were
appreciative of the Crane's invite each year.

The reunion for 1997 will be held July 12.

Donna Smith announced that she had put compiled a family tree. In order to make this historical tree accurate and more complete she requested that everyone send her their families’ members date of births.

A collection of $121. was taken. $50 was given to Connie Crane and $5 to Lynn Coyle.
The question arose whether to continue to have rain or shine or to have a rain date. It was decided to have the reunion rain or shine.

A thank you went out to Raymond Hartzell for putting up his tent. It was of was much appreciated given the weather the day started out with.
