MINUTES
July 12, 2009

President Raymond Hartzell called the meeting to order.

· The Secretary’s report was read and approved.

· The Treasurer’s Report was read and approved as the following:

There was no old business.

New Business:
· Discussion was held on changing the organization of the reunion to a committee instead of families. It was approved and a committee was selected.

· Web Site: Anyone wishing to be included on updates through Web Site should give email address to me and I will forward to Lynn Coyle

· The park fee went up from $75.00 to $100.00.

· Angie Cyphers will chair the committee for 2010 Reunion. Shirley Ascani, Eileen LaBarre, Karen Chidsey, Ashley Williams and Elton Horn volunteered to help plan next year’s reunion on Sunday, July 11, 2010. It was decided to have the reunion once again at East Bangor Park. Betty Jane Hartzell will reserve the park.

· A paper was circulated for anyone who wanted to write a get well note to Jody Padula Quinn who is battling cancer.

The meeting was adjourned.

Elton Horn offered prayer and the eating began. There were games for the kids, card playing, quoits, Bingo and a lot of good fellowship.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and our attendance was 70.

· Thanks to Shirley Ascani families for hosting this year’s Reunion with a Celebrate Baseball theme. Lots of Boston Red Sox, Phillies, Yankees, a Cardinal fan and even one Colorado Rockies fan sent a pennant in lieu of her absence.

· The Hartzell families will host next year’s reunion to be held Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 12:00 noon.
· Betty Jane Hartzell will reserve the park.

Discussion of new format for reunion. Majority liked not having to bring so much and having paper goods, some beverages and meat supplied by the committee. It was also voted to reimburse the committee for their expenses this year.

The Shirley Ascani and Clark Mensch families will host next year’s reunion to be held Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 12:00 noon.

Betty Jane Hartzell will reserve the park.

It was a hot sunny day with a record high of 112 people in attendance!

Reunion 2006

HARTZELL, HORN, MENSCH REUNION Minutes
Date: July 9, 2006

President Elton Horn called the meeting to order.

The secretary’s report was read and approved.
Suzanne Sartini read the treasurer’s report giving a balance in the checking as $491.62.

Lynn Coyle, web master, encourages people to let her know of any special events for posting on the web site.

Our next reunion will be held at East Bangor Memorial Park beginning at 12:00 noon on Sunday,
July 8, 2007. Betty Jane Hartzell will take care of reserving the park and the Floyd Mensch families will be the organizers.

Horn – Helen Horn reported:

Reunion 2005

15th Annual Horn, Hartzell & Mensch Reunion Minutes
July 10, 2005 – East Bangor Memorial Park

Vice President, Elton Horn, called the meeting of the Horn, Hartzell & Mensch Reunion to order following our Covered Dish Luncheon. Our thanks to Elton Horn for giving the blessing before our meal.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Donna Smith read the minutes from last year with one correction made. The total of last year’s attendance was 96 – not all people signed the attendance book.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
Angie Cyphers gave the treasurer’s report with the balance of $378.19. Collection was taken in the amount of $211.00. Expenses were as follows:
Postage - $0.00 (Lynn Coyle reported there was none since she used up the postcards from prior years; 2006 Park Rental -$75.00 was given to Betty Jane Hartzell; leaving a balance of $136.00 to be deposited in our account. The total balance in our account should be $514.00.

NEW BUSINESS:
Discussion was held on what to do with the monies in our treasury. It was decided to let the balance build and maybe someday we would be able to have a catered reunion.

The Elton Horn Family will organize next year’s reunion to be held at East Bangor Memorial Park on Sunday, July 9 with a theme of “Country Hoedown”.

REUNION EVENTS:
Thanks to our committee, the Don & Shirley Ascani and Clark & Marilyn Mensch families for organizing this year’s reunion with a Mardi Gras Theme. Purple, yellow and green beads were given to everyone and lots of Cajun/Louisiana Style food was on hand. There were even some feathers flying around. Games were held for the children, quoits and horseshoes were available as well as Bingo and of course, our Cake Walk. 86 attended this year’s reunion on a beautiful sunny summer day.

Secretary Report: Secretary Lynn Coyle read the meeting notes from last year. Joan Mensch and Shirley Ascani approved the notes.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Suzanne Sartini read the Treasurer’s report. Beginning Balance: $322.95. Interest: $2.36. New Balance $325.31. Elton Horn and Connie Crane approved the report.

Collection: $156.00.

Expenses Paid: $25.00 to Lynn Coyle for postage. $75.00 to Betty Jane Hartzell to reserve the park for next year.

Someone chimed in to announce that we were celebrating Lenora Horn’s 90th birthday today. Lenora’s birthday was July 9th.
Shirley Ascani pointed out that Jackie Horn was in the hospital recovery from surgery and that she had brought a card for everyone to sign and send to Jackie.

Officers:
After some discussion about how long a “term” for an officer was. Some thought it was two years, other thought there was not definite term and does the vice president move up or is there an election? However, since Raymond Hartzell was the president last year that left Earl Mensch free to remain president for next year whether there was a term of 2 years or not.

The officers will remain unchanged for next year.

Elton Horn gave the blessing.

Food:
Everyone brought a covered dish – main dish and / or desserts.
There was already far too much food before the Horn’s broke out the two full size sheets cakes to celebrate Lenora Horn’s 90th birthday.

Entertainment:
There was bingo and tons of bingo prizes including a really cool bird feeder.
Toys were handed out to the younger children.
There was also a cakewalk with lots of delicious looking desserts.

President Raymond Hartzell called the meeting to order.

Secretary Report:
Secretary Lynn Coyle’s mother and stand-in secretary Helen Horn read the meeting notes from last year.

Lynn also announced that her database had crashed and therefore had lost all of the names and addresses. The post cards were only mailed to those that came the last three years and to those she could scrounge up an address since most only sign the book anymore and do not put an address.

Lynn asked that everyone please sign the book today and list their address. If there is someone who is not here to sign but will want to receive a post card next year, please write their name in the notebook. If someone needs a post card next year but the address is not known at this time, please take a flyer with Lynn’s address and email address and get the information to her for next year.

Everyone with lots and lots of food enjoyed a meal.

Entertainment:
There were two guessing games. A jar of M <& M's was won by Brad Smith (247) and a jar of Creme Savers was won by Angie Cyphers (76).

There was a Peanut Scramble, an Egg On A Spoon Relay, a Clothespins In A Bottle Challenge and a Balloon Tied On Leg Challenge for the children.

Each child received a lollipop and a prize.

The adults wouldn't play with Balloon Tied On Leg Challenge. They were too busy playing quoits, horseshoes and volleyball.

There were two card games going on.

Bingo was played and there were many prizes.

There was also a cakewalk with pies, cakes, brownies, watermelons, cantaloupes and muffins.
