Date:
July 14, 2001

What:
The Horn, Hartzell and Mensch Reunion

Where:
East Bangor Memorial Park.

Weather:
Sunny, beautiful & perfect.

Organizers:
The Angie Mensch Cyphers took charge to organize the reunion this year and will organize the games next year as well. Thanks Angie.

Theme:
None

Attendance:
42

Meeting:
Meeting Called To Order:
President Floyd Mensch called the meeting to order. He attempted to call the meeting several times but this isn’t always an easy group to settle down for a business meeting.

Secretary Report:
Secretary Lynn Coyle’s Stand-In Donna Mensch Smith read the meeting notes from last year. There were some corrections: Jodi Padula Quinn had a baby boy (Jacob) not a girl. Alison Padula DeRedy had a baby girl (Kirsten Ann). Jackie Mensch Williams and Joelee Sartini DuBose motioned to accept the minutes.

Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Suzanne Sartini read the Treasurer’s report. Beginning Balance: $205.97. Deposits: $65.03. New Balance $276.61.
Note. Suzanne added the 3 cents of her own; she likes working with whole numbers.

Collection:
$90.00

Expenses Paid:
$15.00 to Lynn Coyle for postage.
Note. She donated the rest of her postage to the “collection”
$25.00 to Raymond Hartzell for the rental of the park.
Note. $50.00 was given to the Hartzell at the last reunion to reserve the park for this year but the fee is $75.00 not $50.00. A motion was made to pay these expenses by Joan Mensch & Connie Mensch Crane.
Betty Jane Hartzell gave a report on some of the ideas that the Schoonover families have used in the past at their reunions. It was decided to give some of the ideas a try in the future.

Elton Horn & Earl Mensch made a motion to re-elect the officers for another year. The motion was unanimous.

The Mensch’s are in charge of organizing next year’s reunion – July 14, 2002.
Note. The reunion will be held on Sundays from now on instead of Saturdays due to the fact that some members work on Saturdays and cannot make the reunion. It was also decided that next year’s reunion’s theme will be “Tropical Island”. Betty Jane Hartzell was railroaded into contacting Nola Voucher to reserve the park for the next year / Mensch’s. Earl Mensch & Connie Mensch Crane seconded all of the above ideas / suggestions. Everyone said “aye” with the exception of Loring LaBarre who had to say “ney” to be different.
Earl Mensch suggestion that we use nametags for next year. Jackie Mensch Williams agreed to take care of this.

The meeting was adjourned.

The Blessing

Food:
Everyone enjoyed lots of good food including Raymond Hartzells, secret recipe chili.

Entertainment:
Angie Mensch Cyphers coordinated a peanut scramble for the kids, an ankle balloon-breaking contest that ended in a tie between Heather Williams & Michael Hartzell. Michael seemed to win but only after the game went on and on forever and finally got some help from his friends. There was also a volleyball game, horseshoes & of course bingo.
A good time was had by all in spite of a little mishap on the playground at the end of the day. It was reported that Michael Hartzell was doing just fine.
A discussion was held on July birthday. After much discussion and crushed feeling, I decided to eliminate the whole birthday discussion from the minutes of the meeting.

Respectfully Submitted by
Donna Mensch Smith
Stand-In Secretary
